Walter Lure- Ex Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers played a most amazing gig for the third time running in the last three years in London. I first saw him play the 100 Club 2010 and was truly blown away (and not biased at all, even I know the boys who play with him) but hadn't seen them in over 20 years… I thought the same about the Purple Turtle gig last year 2011,but having said that this was their most kick arse gig by far, with a great line up of band members consisting of Walter Lure (guitar and vocals), Darren Osbourne (Ozzie on drums) Jez Miller (guitar and vocals) and Darren Birch (Birchy on bass). You couldn't have pick a better band to support Walter, true musicians who know their Thunders and Dolls down to every last detail and to tell the truth you would think you could hear Johnny playing along with them if he were here he would definitely be very content with them playing this most lively upbeat Rawk and Roll gig with Walter and the boys they truly know how to shake the rafters!!

Walter is still a true Heartbreaker and if you should close your eyes when seeing him play it all comes back you. Just think of the L.A.M.F. album and you are takin back to that wonderful time. I was so excited that after the gig for days I was stuck on that very album wishing Walter and the boys made a new album together, who knows anything is possible right?? Jez did an outstanding few numbers and I tell you what Johnny would also be so proud at how good he captured those songs. He sang: Chatterbox, Born to Lose, Let Go, Cry Baby, and Baby Talk. Not forgetting Steve Dior who got up for Junkie Business that was rather hot!! He fit right in London Cowboy style... The crowd were great dancing the whole gig through, it was like being at a Punk gig at times it was that intense. I was up front at one point and the atmosphere was incredible. I can't think of a gig where there was so much passion in such a long time.I was so tempted to get down to Brighton it was so good I was buzzing for days after. You talk NY Rock this was truly it. CBGB'S eat your heart out, If you haven't seen Walter Lure in action before best keep your eyes peeled for the next time round you should get your ass or (arse down as the Brits say) and don't miss them. You will not be disappointed!! These guys rock from the balls with a Heart of Steal… Heartbreakers for sure, 2013 style. This my friends is true Rock at its finest… Toodle Pip till the next time.
