Timm Saxton

And PunkrPrincess Chat About Music

Interview By: PunkrPrincess

PUNK GLOBE:
Where is your current location?

Timm Saxton:
It is now and has always been Anaheim California, currently chilling in my backyard with my pups

PUNK GLOBE:
What Bands are you currently in? And please give us a little history.

Timm Saxton:
Currently I perform with my solo band Timm Saxton band and LOCJAW.

PUNK GLOBE:
If you were to describe your music in simple word choice.. What would you say?

Timm Saxton:
My solo band is a mix of American roots a combination of blues jazz fusion and a bit of bluegrass.Locjaw, on the other hand is power groove... I created the sound back in the early nineties long before Linkin Park or any of those bands came out it's a mix of hip-hop heavy metal and punk rock. It's the kind of music where when I'm writing it a picture in my head people jumping up and down and leaving their worries behind if only for a moment.

PUNK GLOBE:
Do you have any other hobbies besides, obviously, making music?

Timm Saxton:
My life is a constant array of different things obviously music is important to me, but I've also worked in the off road racing industry for over 20 years. I have been proud to be part of a team that has not only won first in its class but it is over all points in the Baja and score racing series. I also like to spend time skateboarding. Ever since I was young it seemed the only thing that took me out of my own self. I have also met some of the coolest people along the way. Other than that I like to do wood carving occasionally and perhaps some painting.

PUNK GLOBE:
What's your most embarrassing on stage experience?

Timm Saxton:
I personally can't say that I have had any embarrassing moments, there was a time when I used to support an American flag as a skirt. There was a show where there was a mosh pit and a hand reached out from the circling crowd of people and pulled the flag from me, leaving me standing on stage without a stitch. But I think my most embarrassing moment was when my band earlier on was in the middle of a set and begin to screw around. It was the only time I ever walked off stage. I would like to think that everyone I perform with takes it with at least as much seriousness as I do.

PUNK GLOBE:
Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Timm Saxton:
For my musical influences there are so many it would really be hard to just pinpoint a few. I can tell you however the first time I saw Pantera live, I must say Phil Anselmo blew me away. I have been a fan ever since. I am also a big Grateful Dead fan. As for my personal influences there's only a couple of people I can really thank for being there for me in my life. Carl NACE, Karl Edwards , my brother Chris Edwards and the handful of guys and gals I'd like to call my friends.

PUNK GLOBE:
What are some of your pet peeves?

Timm Saxton:
People that can't take time to actually drive a car when you're behind the wheel because you too busy doing other stuff. As well as people who are just not kind.
"People that can't take time to actually drive a car when you're behind the wheel because you too busy doing other stuff."

PUNK GLOBE:
What inspires you to continue playing great music?

Timm Saxton:
I think inspiration is the wrong word, I think I'm just driven to do it.I have always loved music. It has always been a way to relate to perhaps not feeling alone in the way I feel about certain things. So I play for the ones who are out there, feeling like they want to give up on life because of people and circumstance.I myself have been through a great deal of negativity in my life. So I hope when someone hears what I'm doing, they realize that they are not alone.

PUNK GLOBE:
What advice would you give to fellow bands?

Timm Saxton:
The only thing I can say is, you play music because it's part of who you are. As much as your beating heart. If you play for any other reason...well,it's a waste of time.

PUNK GLOBE:
Do you have a favorite local venue?

Timm Saxton:
Not sure I really have a favorite. As long as you treat me right, have a great sound system and is designed around showcasing the artist, I'm all good.

PUNK GLOBE:
What's the best and worst thing about playing over 21 venues?

Timm Saxton:
I like playing all venues I think it's great when kids are able to come out and see some of their favorite bands and experience some new ones. As well as for adults. But I think that was the younger crowd you get a little more audience participation.

PUNK GLOBE:
Do you think the venues can do anything to better the music scene?

Timm Saxton:
I think to properly run a venue you must really be into all different kinds of music and seeking out those unique bands that have something that no one else has. If you are lucky enough to see some of those bands which I have been over the many years in which I have been a promoter, then it's your obligation to help promote them and get them in the front of as many people as possible as well it's also their job to promote themselves. It takes a lot of work to create a scene and everybody has to be a part of it or the scene will not continue with any success.

PUNK GLOBE:
What's new in the recording of your music?

Timm Saxton:
I'm very proud to announce that my solo band which is made up of a buncha great guys, has a live recording in the can. Locjaw, is putting the finishing touches on their new CD which will be a double album. Made up of the first album the human condition, as well as the new album lost in the moment. We're doing this for a specific reason. So that people who never got a chance to get the first album will now have it, as well as having a longer length CD. I am hoping to have both albums in mass production before the holidays 2015.

PUNK GLOBE:
Do you have a favorite local band you like to go see?

Timm Saxton:
Although I don't get out much I will tell you this I am always down to leave the house when my friends the HONKYS are performing.. They are just a bunch of great guys and play some really great music. They are out of San Clemente and you can find them on Facebook.

I would definitely like to thank all the people who have been supportive to me over the years. It has meant more to me than you will ever know. I would also like to give a shout out to Brandon Livingston, for without you I would have never seen my first notes in front of people. I miss you everyday. I would also like to say to my daughter Kymbria, and my son Seth, you two are the reason that I get up every day and try and be a better man. Without you I have no purpose.
