Punk Globe: Thanks for the interview can you give us a bit of background on The Pegs?
Sean: Thanks Ginger for having us…..The Pegs formed in the summer 2002 as a four piece out of San Clemente and we’ve had a couple different lines ups over the years. Our current line up is pretty much our best and most stable line up…about 5 years ago Drew switched from Bass to rhythm guitar, we added Barney on bass and pretty much set it in stone.
Adam: We started a long ass time ago……we were a band for like 3 weeks then hit the studio to release a track on the Hostage Records Comp that was coming out….kinda of just took off from there.
Drew: Yeah we were all friends that skated, surfed and played music together in one way or another so it kinda just stuck. Made sense at the time.
Barney: They pay me to be their friend and hang out!

Punk Globe: So you are centered out of the OC (Orange County) is that right?
Barney: South County
Drew: South County
Sean: Hahaha I guess we claim South County…but ya we are straight out of the OC.
Punk Globe: Tell us how you came up with the band name The Pegs?
Sean: Seriously can’t even remember how we came up with the name or Idea. It sounded fun at the time, so we went with it and 17 years later same name same everything.
Drew: It was better than Kill Switch Ha.
Adam: Can’t even remember…something witty and clever probably!

Punk Globe: Tell us who is in the band and what they play?
Barney: The band has 5 members… Sean Von on Vox , Adam Smash on Lead Guitar, Drew Blood on Rhythm Guitar, Scott Static on drums and I play bass. This has been our line up for last 5 years and moving forward is our last…
Sean: I hope so….
Punk Globe: Musically who are some of your influences?
Sean: We have so many influences and band we dig, it hard to not include them all, a few of my faves The Crowd, Duran Duran and Black Flag
Barney: Clash, Bad Brains, Crowd
Adam: Marty Robins, Dick Dale, X(Australia) do it for me….
Drew: Rik L Rik, Pete Way, Dead Boys a lot of Dead Boys!

Punk Globe: In doing research I read that you are all about skateboards and surfboards. Do you all skate and surf?
Sean: We all surf and skate and pretty much spend a lot of time at the beach and shit, but we are all about action! You know good or bad, whatever happens happens! We live just like everyone else…
Barney: Everyday I can, I’m in the water or at the beach.
Scott: I skate to the liquor store!
Drew: Everyday I skate…everyday! Is there anything better to do…Nope
Punk Globe: How many releases do you have out?
Scott: We have a bunch of release out. We have 4 x 45’s, and EP, and LP and are on way too many comps to even mention…and a bunch of comps we don’t even know about
Punk Globe: Has the band toured?
Sean: As far as touring we gone here and there but we basically play San Diego to LA. Never been able to have our ducks in a row to make it further than that….and we are good with that!
Drew: Don’ t forget we’ve been to Santa Barbra and Vegas to play a few times!
Adam: Yeah and Frisco!!!
Barney: And Arizona….we played that wave pool party and Rick Kane’s 50th Bday party!
Punk Globe: Have you released any videos?
Barney: No real per say video, where we have shot a video for a song….we got a lot of shit on You tube, Facebook, IG etc etc.
Scott: You can find us on Youtube and the typical social media sites.
Punk Globe: Are you currently with a label?
Sean: Currently we are on a few independent labels…Our first LP came out On Hostage Records in 2018 and they first put us out, so they are always have been and always will be our home label.
Adam: We also have releases on Slab-Of Wax, No Front Teeth and Rapid Pulse. We get around and always best to try other labels versus staying with one label. It helps be able to branch out a bit more than just the local scene that way.
Barney: We do have a new 45’ coming out in a few weeks…..details are forthcoming!
Scott: Plus we are going to do another split with The Prostitutes next month!

Adam: We have a few recording projects coming up and trying to fit in another LP. Then I think Death is waiting for my ear drums.
Drew: Skate More that’s what’s next!
Barney: Gonna try and make a real video…I mean real!
