PUNK GLOBE:
M'Ladies, you gotta talk to the Gyps. This is an amazing journey
you've been set on! How has working with David Ellefson, one of Metal's finest
men, been for you?
Doll Skin:
It has been great! David has been a wonderful mentor, influence, and teacher. He has lots of crazy stories he loves to share! He has been so easy to communicate and work with and is so driven and motivated.
PUNK GLOBE:
How did you meet David? And how has collaborating with him
changed your lives?
Doll Skin:
We met David through Rock Revelation battle of the bands in 2013, he was a judge and we caught his attention pretty quickly! Well the obvious change would be his substantial amount of music industry connections that have been a huge leg up for us. He has presented us with tons of great opportunities that we couldn't have achieved without him.
PUNK GLOBE:
What is the element that stands out in your performances?
Doll Skin:
Our energy and the way we play off each other and read each other on stage. And our glitter of course...all over us, the stage, and the crowd!
PUNK GLOBE:
Who wanted to start the band and why?
Doll Skin:
Meghan's school was putting on a battle of the bands in late 2013 and she wanted to bring some friends together as a one-time project just to compete. After we scored perfect 10s from all the judges and ended up winning the battle of the bands, we decided to continue on as a band.
PUNK GLOBE:
What song do you never get enough of when you're performing live?
Doll Skin:
One of our favorite songs to play live is our cover of Weatherman by Dead Sara, a band we all love! All of our originals are always so much fun for us to play as well.

PUNK GLOBE:
Who do you consider your greatest influence(s) in your skills today?
Doll Skin:
Between the 4 of us there is a wide range of influences and tastes in music. A few favorites are NOFX, Rancid, Tool, Led Zeppelin, Bikini Kill, Refused, and Avenged Sevenfold.
PUNK GLOBE:
Though they are two different monsters, do you enjoy playing live?
Or Recording more?
Doll Skin:
We all absolutely love both! But personally, Sydney, Meghan, and Nicole favor playing live because of the energy. Alex leans more towards recording because playing with new gear is always a blast, but of course playing live is too!
PUNK GLOBE:
Are you working on an album right now? Is there a name for it? Do
you know when it drops?
Doll Skin:
Yes we are! There's no definitive name or release date just yet, we are keeping those under wraps for a little longer!
PUNK GLOBE:
How has performing changed your lives?
Doll Skin:
It's made us all more accustomed to being uncomfortably sweaty...
There's lots of things that performing live has changed for us. Time management and prioritizing is definitely a big one but that usually comes from pre-show prep craziness. It has also taught us to roll with the punches; things go wrong on stage and we just have to go with it and laugh about it later!
"It has also taught us to roll with the punches."
PUNK GLOBE:
What kind of support have you received from your family and friends
with your current endeavors musically?
Doll Skin:
INCREDIBLE support. Everyone in our families are so on board with this adventure for us, we can't thank them enough. The support from Dave Ellefson, Randy Spencer, John Aquilino and Randy Walker has been overwhelming. They have traveled far from their families to work with us and it's hard to put into words how thankful we are. As for our friends, their repetitive presence at our shows always warms our hearts.Punk Globe: Who have you opened for so far?
PUNK GLOBE:
What's the best part of entering the music industry with the kind of
power that is behind you?
Doll Skin:
The best part is the overwhelming support we've gotten from Dave and the team. Sometimes it's hard to fathom; not a lot of bands have the opportunity to experience lots of the events that are planned for us and the opportunities we have now. We are VERY lucky girls. The team we have behind us has been in the industry for many years and are very knowledgeable of everything there is to know about it. They have for sure put us on the right path. Same goes for all the incredible people at the School of Rock Scottsdale.
PUNK GLOBE:
With everything you have achieved in your careers, is there anything
you feel the most proud of that you have achieved? Or is it all one amazing
collective memory?
Doll Skin:
It really is all one kick-ass collective memory, although we take the most pride in giving a message with our music, relatable or not we just love to be able to communicate and connect to an audience with our music.
PUNK GLOBE:
Who have you opened for so far?
Doll Skin:
Social Distortion, Stitched Up Heart, a few members of Doll Skin have played with Alice Cooper, Playboy Manbaby Eyes of Ivory, and many popular locals around the scene!
PUNK GLOBE:
What possessed you to want to play punk music?
Doll Skin:
We have all been fans of punk for so long and love to play it. Because there's not a very prominent local punk scene in our area, we figured why not go for it! Especially being an all-girl band, we don't see many of those, especially playing punk!
PUNK GLOBE:
What do you want to say to Punk Globe readers out there?
Doll Skin:
Be on the look out for new music from us, we have lots of cool things in the works!!
