The Bluefields

Show Review By: Cyndi Ford
On the heels of their new release Ramshackle, the Bluefields, aka: Dan, Warner, Joe and Brad made a stop in Atlanta, as well as a few other selected cities in the U.S. I had been looking forward to their show for months. The venue was Smith’s Olde Bar, typical place for the guys to play, and cheers to Smith’s on the beer specials; made for a great evening!
The evening began with Buck-o-five opening the show, and in typical fashion, they started things off in a rowdy fashion. Nice to see some some old friends out supporting their buddies and fellow musicians. It was fun to get to hang out with Bucky and the guys out back, and chat about the business/music and all the jazz that goes along with it, thanks for the conversation boys.
Next was a talented group of younger guys named Goodbye June. They took things in a bit of a direction and offered up a bit of more progressive rock. Look forward to hearing more from them.
But the time had come for my buds Dan and Warner and their newest side project The Bluefields to take the stage, and I was pumped. I had done a review on their first cd Pure, and ever since then I had eagerly awaited this moment. The curtains opened up to show the guys looking magnifique, especially Dan with his top hat. I have a feeling that hat is going to be the toast of the tour, kudos to a fine choice in head gear my man.
But this night was about the music, and these guys kicked your ass and smiled while they were doing it. Dan, taking a leave on guitar provided the bass lines, while Joe sang and played rhythm, Warner smoking it on lead, and last but not least Brad providing the beat. What a hellova show. For those poor souls that missed it, what a shame. These guys put 110% into every night’s show, and leave you with a grin.
I wish The Bluefields a safe and prosperous tour in Europe, and look forward to next time ya home. Give my besties Nicki and Charlie a big hug when you see them you guys, and love to you all!
