San Francisco Year Zero:
Political Upheaval, Punk Rock and a Third-Place Baseball Team
By: Lincoln A Mitchell
Rutgers University Press
Review By: Ginger Coyote

I was interviewed for the new book San Francisco Year Zero, written by former San Francisco native Lincoln Mitchell a good pal of John Yelding Sloan pieces the deaths of Harvey Milk and George Moscone to three other major events that all occurred in 1978: The massacre of Peoples Temple members in Jonestown, Guyana, the explosion of the city's punk rock scene, and a breakthrough season for the San Francisco Giants. Mitchell did a killer job with research getting  details from  Jello Biafra, East Bay Ray, Dave Dictor,  Penelope Houston, Ginger Coyote, Joe Dirt, Jack Boulware, Hank Rank, and many others to find out exactly how the punk scene intermingled in all of these major events..  All in all it is a very interesting book. Well worth purchasing for not only punk rock fans but also for people interested in the history of San Francisco..
