Michael O' Keefe is an Oscar nominated actor who is really down to earth nice guy.... He has been working consistently for years . I had the pleasure of meeting Michael when he was married to legendary blues / rock musician Bonnie Raitt.. Around the time he was appearing on the hit show "Roseanne"... When I found out that he had agreed to do an interview with me Timm Carney reminded me that he had appeared on "Maude" . Now I was excited... We found a video of Michael when he appeared on Maude as Lee Harrison

Thanks so much for doing the interview Michael... Tell us a bit about your new film Apartment 143?

The film covers events of a 'haunted house' investigation by a team of paranormal investigators. I play Parapsychologist, "Dr. Helzer."

Is the film also known as Emergo?

"Emergo" is the original title. Latin for "I emerge." It was an effect from a movie called, "House on Haunted Hill." The distributors probably thought that was too 'inside' for audiences and had it changed.

When is the release date?

The official release is June 2012.

Do alot of films first have a release on VOD before a theater release?

Yes, It's a current trend. 'Melancholia,' for instance, was released that way.

Apt 143 was directed by Carles Torrens. Can you give us some background on him?

First time feature director, from Catalonia, where we shot the film. Fluent in English, French, German, Spanish, and Catalonian. I love this guy. Really talented and smart. We're going to see many more of his films.

In one word how would you describe working with Mr. Torrens?

Groovy.

The film was written by Rodrigo Cortes. He and and his partner Adrian Guerra have had success at Sundance Film Festival with other films. Can you tell us a bit about them?

Both Rodrigo and Adrian are very savvy filmmakers. There next film stars Robert DeNiro. Rodrigo is a great writer/director and Adrian makes sure his films get made.

Robert DeNiro pretty impressive! Who is doing distribution for Apartment 143?

Magnolia is distributing it

Who else is in the film?

Kai Lennox, Gia Mantegna, Rick Gonzalez, Fionna Glascott.

Without giving away to much can you tell us a bit about Apartment 143?

Kai's wife has died. Strange things are happening in the house. My team and I show up to check it out. Spooky shit ensues.

How long of a shoot was Apartment 143 and where did you film at?

We shot in six weeks. We filmed in Barcelona, Spain.

The only other actor in the film I knew was Kai Lennox... How did you enjoy working with him?

Kai is a gifted guy. Check out his 'breakdown' scene at the climax of the movie. Great stuff.

You also have written a highly acclaimed book "Swimming From Under My Father" can you tell us a bit about it?

It was my thesis at Bennington College where I received an MFA in creative writing.

Any memorable moments that you can remember from working on Maude with Bea Arthur?

Aside from saying it was a thrill!!! It was so long ago I can't remember too much more.

Was I on 'Roseanne'? Oh, yeah. It was an honor to work on the show.
