I just came from the Germs Induction as the terrors of the Rockwalk ceremony. Darby would be happy.I'm happy ! Don Bolles is happy, Pat Smear is happy, Lorna Doon is happy, Shane West is Happy, Bijoux Phillips is happy. Punk Rock is happy. The movie people are happy, happy is good! The movie ids good!
I whispered to Shane West who plays Darby in the movie "What We Do Is Secret," 'cause he's so cool, you don't have to shout and I whisper, "This is a great endeavor, a nice piece of work."
He thanks me and I go hang with Stella at the
concession stand.
I was with Darby at his last gig at the Starwood. He was doing the
Darby
Crash Band. We were upstairs in the balcony and he looked at me hard,
and said: "Tequila, are you gonna keep punk rock alive?" And I said,
"Yes, Darby, what's going?" And he asked me the question again ,and I
replied the same. And then I said: "What's going on, Darby?" His eyes
told me to answer him, and I said, "Yes, Darby, I will keep punk rock
alive." Darby hugged me for a long time, and disappeared into the
night....
This is a joyous moment, Punk Rock is alive!
I walk to the back of the Guitar Center to check in, and there are Don Bolles and Pat Smear! First, lots of hugging and a clot of mental high five-ing.
It is great to see Helen Killer, Inger Lorrie, Keith Morris and Kim Fowley roaming the rock and roll tundra.
As they say in Hollywood: "Rock me sexy Jesus."
Darby and I would have tea with Amber at the Wilshire Bollocks Tea room. The rich, they loved our mohawks and my yellow green hair. The Germs had just read Josh Frank's 'In Heaven Everything Is Fine.
The book is about my dear friend Peter Iver's
life and death. He was a
great man, so it is very painful to have lost him. I hung out with
Buddy Helm who was one of my pals in the At Sunset and PIL days. I also
went to the reading at Book Soup, that was kinda about me in the day.
The book is great Buy it on Amazon.
Lorna Doon
Don Bolles has Club Dinga Ling at the Hyperion Tavern, where he
presents
great music every Tuesday night. Lorna and I hang out under the
umbrella -- it's fucking hot outside. Yeah, Big Props. High Five.
I go to the 'What We Do Is Secret' movie at the Nuart in West LA with
the
directors, actors and angels; and Q and A after the film. Stella,
Rebecca from Fright Wig, the movie's stars, tons of press, Helen Killer
and Paul Rossler -- but not together... Stella from KXLU. Rodney and
Brendan were not there, though they were actualized in the movie.
Then I went to the Sunset Junction to see the Germs live again. It was
hot,
it always is the hottest day of the year. I was standing with my
3-camera crew, Barb from Duchess De Sade and Haunted Garage front man
Dukey Flyswatter, writer-director Patrick, photographer Tim Sinn's
roommate, Pat Hoed, Sugar Pie, Paul from the Butt Wizards, Mike from
Rosemary's Billygoat, and a slew of who's who.
The audience is heckling Shane West that he wasn't gay enough to be
Darby,I say, "Thank
God." Someone says he's too polite to be Darby, and I say, Thank God!"
Someone doesn't like my attitude and says,
"How it is that, Tequila? and I say, "That's how it is for me, old
man..."
I thought we were gonna brawl. Punk rock still, I knew Darby, and I know he would have loved it.
There was a baby slampit and the common age was twenty-three.
The Duchess and I took a mosh around the slam pit. My friend Tch MAX shot some interviews in film with me and the Germs at the Sunset Junction; Harvey and Surfer Mike shot on smaller cameras. Spacekitty shot at the movie showing at the Nuart, and I shot the Rockwalk Pix...
The duchess agrees with me that he is so hot you
don't mind the
temperature anymore.
The movie is a great slice of punk rock urban LA Life in the late 70's
and
early 80's, and the actors seemed to get our frustrated youth
problem. It is the way it was. We had fun then and we have fun now.
I went to the Bigfoot Lodge to pick up tickets to Sunset Junction only
to get a sign up drawing.
We hung out at the Bigfoot Lodge with Ann Marie and Josie and then onto the Club LA Scoop.
Ed Canfield is in town for the Criswell party.
This year far for its
original elegance at the Piano bar. It was more like the City had let a
prison bus out at the door. Lots of rough trade just like Criswell
would have liked it, then the midnight vigil to Criswell's house, where
Charles used to like for ghost stories. Criswell's house is also famous
for spawning Disgraceland where Iris Berry and Pleasant Gehman lived.
Bob Blackburn, who did the Cocktail Hour radio show on Satellite, was
there.
He is Criswellian as well, quote a few heads, including Charles
Coulombe.
Next Year the Criswell Party will be held at The Cat and Fiddle.
