A Tribute To The Fabulous And Talented

Joy Ryder

"Joy Ryder left us on
February 14, 2015...
She will be always remembered for her talent, beauty and kindness...
Rest In Peace Ms. Ryder."
-Ginger Coyote

On this day of love it's a cruel twist of fate that our beautiful Joy Ryder has left us. I am broken hearted and will be off here for a while. Sometimes this life is just too much...

Joy Ryder hasn't really left us and she never will...Joy has always been too loyal for that... but now she is freed from the burden of her body to sing in spheres forever Joy passed just around midnight, her favorite time of day, like the true rock and roller she is ..on Valentine's day a holiday made for a lover and friend like Joy...and that really suits her style and sense of humor...My heart has been breaking since I heard the news she was so devastatingly ill . i was lucky to spend time with her last week and she was as always full of love, no thoughts for herself only for her friends.

It is good to know we have a friend like Joy..reigning down on us from high places. My deepest condolences to her son Jessie and family and peace of mind and sympathy to the many, many, many broken hearted friends out there.

I'm devastated to learn I've just lost another friend from my music community. Joy Ryder succumbed to liver cancer. She was an extraordinary Rock 'N Roll & Blues performer going back to the days when New York Punk Rock was raging at CBGB. I was at benefit concert for Joy Ryder on February 4 at Bowery Electric, where she almost made it to the show. Joy Ryder was also friends with my late fiancee, Susan Palermo. I can't believe I've lost 3 friends to cancer in past 4 weeks!

It is so beautifully appropriate that she chose to leave us on Valentine's Day. Joy Ryder was the embodiment of the kind of love we should share, cherish, and celebrate today. I am blessed to have her love forever and honored to love her son, Jesse Franklin. We love you, Joy Ryder. Thank you for making this day extra special for me.

I'm heartbroken to hear that my friend Joy Ryder had passed away. Joy was an extraordinary talent, smart, beautiful and never gave an inch up to her lust for living. Her political concern for the well being of people was well exercised and backed by actions. She was a great mom and a valued friend to everyone who knew her. Tonight Joy, I'll play for you and the whole lot of you reading this, who exercise your heart out playing and writing music, doing not only what you all love to do, but what makes the world a little better, in spite of the inconveniences and hardships you face to do what needs to be done. Joy never stopped moving for a second. I'll miss her dearly.
