Punk Globe: Hello Fire Exit Thanks for chatting with us I have liked you all for many years great to finally interview you all.
Can you give us a little band history including current members and band position
Fire Exit: In 1977 Fire Exit were formed. Today we still play all over the globe always looking for new and exciting places to play, some people say we play old school punk rock. I say we play rock in a punk way, our way. We have supported & headlined with many bands over the years like Cock Sparrer, The Damned, The Misfits, The Buzzcocks,The Business, Cockney Rejects, Glen Matlock (Sex Pistol). UK Subs, The Vibrators, The Crack, Old Firm Casuals, Control, 999, The Lurkers. Sin Dogs (Zal Cleminson ex Sensational Alex Harvey Band) The Outfit (Chris Glenn ex Sensational Alex Harvey Band) Angelic Upstarts, The Red Eyes , The Zips, Splodgenessabounds , Argy Bargy , Church of Confidence , Control , Lars Frederiksen and thousands more over the years Our current line up is Gerry Attrick -Throat Effects Arab-Drums Paul -Guitar Deek-Bass Lil Charlie - Harmonica
Punk Globe: How has the band changed since the beginning?
Fire Exit: over the years we've learned to play our instruments, hahaha but we have grown as a band and continue to write new material also bringing in different instruments over the years like trumpet, sax. Harmonica lets you expand a bit but we always end up with Guitar bass drums and vocals ,Lil Charlie brings a different dimension when he guests with us on his harmonica ,we love it.
Punk Globe: What is your music making process?
Fire Exit: It usually starts with Gerry writing lyrics and then the guitar starts to put a structure then the whole band form it into a song .
Punk Globe: How many albums/singles do you have out?
Fire Exit: Seriously the last time we checked it was 26 with Albums ,singles, cds and compilations.
So far in 2019 we have featured on 3 different albums and cds.by Detour/Bin Liner records & Cherry Red Records. Its been a great start to the year for us.
Punk Globe: Describe your show, visual and musically
Fire Exit: A bouncing party , we have an audience participation show with a few drinks (that’s just us). Musically in the last 5 or 6 years the crowd sing along .It used to be just choruses but now it’s the full songs , they must be part of it or its not worth doing ..
Punk Globe: How often do you play shows/tours?
Fire Exit: We aim for a gig/show/festival a month with January left out as we are still recovering from New year celebrations, also the first few weeks in September is our holiday time , touring the highlands in a motor home or some of the guys go to Europe to get the sun.
Punk Globe: Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?
Fire Exit: wow this could take some time as we wont mention cities and towns as we will run out of paper hahaha. Scotland-England-Northern Ireland- Southern Ireland-Wales – Spain-Portugal- Italy-France-Netherlands-Vienna-Germany-many more but off the top of head cant remember.
Punk Globe: Who are some of your favourite bands?

Punk Globe: What are the biggest obstacles for bands?
Fire Exit: Usually getting on festivals and gigs some promoters have their own acts and its hard to get into the scene, persevere, we just keep playing sometimes doing our own shows ourselves. We have been trying to get into the USA for years but No Promoter or agent will take us over.
Punk Globe: Since everyone was a start up once, can you give any smaller or local bands looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Fire Exit: The best way is to go to the venue or radio station with a package cds band info photos and follow up with a call or 2 or emails, emails don’t usually get answered get in their face. Don't ask others DIY (Do it Yourself).
Punk Globe: What song of yours are you most proud of and why?
Fire Exit: Oh it must be Timewall 7” single written 42 years ago it still features on cds compilations, Radio shows , pops up on ebay selling for silly money don’t buy it get the reissue from us direct or Last Laugh Records in Brooklyn or the full collection from Dizzy at Detour records It sounds as fresh today as it did back then
Punk Globe: How often and for how long do you practice?
Fire Exit: Usually once the set is together for a period of time we will practice once a month .
