I did this interview is with Palmyra Delran of The Frigg's and Pink Slip Daddy.. Palmyra discusses her musical beginngs, Little Steven, and her various Projects.
Punk Globe: when did you begin playing music, Palmyra?
Palmyra: If you count banging on things, and keeping a beat very early, 5 or 6. Otherwise I started playing instruments in grade school.
Punk Globe: any favorite bands?
Palmyra: Lots! Too many to mention, but they fall under the category of British invasion, Power Pop, garage, well written songs with a cool beat etc.. It goes on and on!
Punk Globe: Little Steven is a fan of your music. Could you tell us about this?
Palmyra: I didn't know he dug The Friggs. Alot of people told us, he was Playing us on his terrestrial radio show in 2008, and Stevie showed Up to the gig. That's where I met him.
Punk Globe: when did you join The Friggs? What was it like playing with them?
Palmyra: I formed The Friggs with Jezebel at the end of 1991, and we put Out a single before we even did a gig. The first gig was on New Years Eve Going into 1992, opening for Pink Slip Daddy, so I was doing double duty.
Punk Globe: when did you join Pink Slip Daddy?
Palmyra: Pink Slip Daddy morphed from a recording project I was part of with Ben Vaughn. We were doing what started out to be a Mick Cancer solo Album with Ben and I playing all the instruments. At some point we decided To get a bass player and do some gigs. Mick Cancer was the front guy, Ben played guitar, I was on drums, and we got Barb Dwyer to play bass. We ended up making four records, and just released one we did, backing Up Alan Vega. It was one of his last studio recordings and he came out On In the Red Records.
Punk Globe: what inspires you to write?
Palmyra: Inspiration comes from lots of different places. I like to eavesdrop When walking the streets, and finish up people's stories and make songs. Sometimes they are my own stories, and sometimes totally made up.
