“Demons”
No Loitering
Vitrioloa Recordings
CD Review By: Jaime Pina

Recorded live at Seattle’s Crocodile Café in March 2004, this recording features a four-piece line-up during a particularly perilous US tour that saw the band dealing with several hardships. They arrived in the US to find that their US label had dropped them and mid-tour they had their gear stolen when someone broke into their van. As a result, the band sounds angry and full of the kind of high energy that is borne from having nothing left to lose.

The recording itself is raw like a motherfucker and while it lacks the polish of studio clean live recordings like Unleashed In The East or We’re The Meatmen… And You Still Suck!, it has the intensity of records like Kiss:Alive! or Metallic K.O. and that is a good thing. The echoey sound is like some kind of distant memory that you can feel and taste and takes nothing away from the band’s chaotic performance. Included is a killer version of The Pagan’s What’s This Shit Called Love? So if you are a fan of “Demons” then this is essential and if you have not heard them and want to get a sense of what they sound like in their rawest form this is a good place to sample a taste.
