Yeti Machete
Chop Chop EP
By: Michael Rys
Bands these days have every imaginable advantage when it comes to recording these days. Do it your self home studios cost as little as a couple hundred bucks and with the right person to mix recordings even the worst can be made to sound slick, professional and ready to inspire. But the boy in Toledo's Yeti Machete takes a step back into the 80's and 90's and decide to record Chop Chop ( EP) by themselves using a four track. How many of us old ass musicians remember those??? Struggling to make the demos recorded on them intelligible, clear and crisp. Punk rock had it right from the get go, most recorded straight and live just like these boys did. If you an audiophile stop reading this limited edition EP will not appeal to you in the least. If your into Raw and I mean really raw punk delivered with spirit ,passion and healthy dose of humor this CD is for you, They have mix of new songs and song that are in their live set but never recorded on Chop Chop and my favorite cut has to be Ken's Head and Barbie's Boob's. The artwork by the bands Singer and guitarist Rob Morrison is worth getting your hands on this disc alone. While I do generally prefer more quality in a recording I dig this CD because it takes me back to listening to the only station that played punk when I was young, across the Detroit river CJAM out of Windsor Canada cranking out local demo's from amazing bands that sounded allot like this. Inspired release for sure
