"The
Con," the new, fifth CD by Canadian identical twins Tegan and
Sarah Quin has been receiving largely favorable to rave reviews.
One reviewer in the NY Times,
on a weekly pop music podcast, rhapsodized that the record
should become an obsession!
Ever since the release of their 2004 CD "So Jealous," they have
been lionized and rightly singled out for considerable adulation
by indie pop fans in this country.
Their songwriting output is prodigious, and they have opened or
sung with bands such as Neil Young, Against Me!, The Pretenders,
Rufus Wainwright, Weezer, The Killers, Gogol Bordelo.
From only hearing only three songs found on a music blog search
engine --
http://www.searquit.com/blogdb/ -- I could tell that I would
possibly buy it when it comes out on the 24th, perhaps as a
gift.
This album seems like it will be a strong addition to their
glowing and growing repertoire, which is fast colliding with
their reputation. It was produced by Chris Walla, of Death Cab
for Cutie fame. In addition, Hunter Burgan of AFI, Jason McGerr
of Death Cab for Cutie, Matt Sharp of The Rentals, and Kaki King
appear on the recording.
