Stuart Woolfenden is a singer / songwriter from the Midlands, UK. He writes his own songs, and is fast becoming a rising star here in England. He has played many shows both with local bands and further afield, Garnered radio play, and even topped the Strummerville chart for unsigned acts for many weeks. His first CD, "Reckless" is a heady mix of acoustic protest and love, but he is now 14 years old, growing up, and documenting life through his eyes on some new tracks. so, lets have a chat with the guy himself.
Punk Globe:
Hi Stuart, OK, Tell us how you got started with music.
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
Music's always been something I've loved forever really. I started performing when I was about eleven and wrote my first song around that time. I stuck with covers for a while before moving onto songwriting and guitar playing. I taught myself the guitar and practiced so hard to get my songs as close as I could to perfect... I was thirteen when I first performed one of my songs. I got more confident with my songwriting and now I love singing them!
Punk Globe:
What influences the songs you write?
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
There are so many different things that influence me to write songs. I used to write a lot of love songs until I realized that there were many people doing the same as me, I needed to stand out more... I listened to a range of different songs, old and new, and started writing lyrics that put my opinion across in a way. Like one of my songs 'Wasted', is about how kids my age that go out, get drunk, do the wrong things, and waste away their childhood... or 'Dear British Media' a song about how some of my friends get influenced by the wrong people... like people who get famous for doing nothing. I still write some love songs, they are a way of expressing the way I feel and getting my emotions down on paper.
Punk Globe:
Who do you listen to Musically when relaxing?.
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
I like all kinds of music, I enjoy Rock, Punk, Acoustic, Electronic, Pop, Dubstep, Country, anything! My two favorite albums at the minute are probably The Clash's first album, and Taylor Swift's 'Red'. They are very different to one another! But I love them both!
Punk Globe:
Who Influences you Musically?.
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
Again, I have so many different influences musically, and each one is different to the other! But I'd say my most influential musicians are probably The Clash, Green Day, and Taylor Swift... I love them all because of the variation of lyrical styles, stage presence, and the deep meaning!
Punk Globe:
If you could perform with anyone, living or dead, Who would it be and Why?
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
Probably Poly Styrene from X-Ray Spex! She was so crazy back in the day and it would've be so fun getting up on stage with her. It's a shame she's no longer with us. I would've loved to have met her.
Punk Globe:
Where can people find out more about you and hear your music?.
STUART WOOLFENDEN:

Punk Globe:
Any last words for the readers of Punk Globe?.
STUART WOOLFENDEN:
I hope you take the time to listen to some of my stuff! And maybe even come and see me perform! Thank you very much.
Stuart's CD "Reckless" is a fantastic document of what its like to be a young man in England right now, and his latest material is really knocking people out when they hear it. Music is in the hands of the young to keep it going and bring in fresh ideas, and Stuart's prolific writing and recording points the way forward. I said it when i first saw him perform, and will say it now, "This guy is gonna be a star"......and now he's on the way. Well Done Stuart!
