Screama Ballerina UK
By: Lis Booth
Screama Ballerina are a Brighton based band hailing from the UK. They have been around for less than a year. Over The past 10 months the four students have evolved into one of the most exciting live bands on the current scene. They've released 2 singles and are now about to release a Third. They have Produced videos for each of the singles. They are a great band, with strong powerful vocals and a melodic rhythm throughout their songs.
The band have started their own club night in Brighton called Suicide Barbie. They have recently began to sell out their monthly residency night in my home town Reading. Both of which are in the UK.
Screama Ballerina recently won two awards at he Music Exposure Awards in late 2011. They won for Best Rock Band and All Round Favorite Band.
They recently Filmed a live set for the Independent Session and performed four live tracks on the BBC.. Introducing and also had their 1st airplay in Japan and Korea!. Screama Ballerina are now confirmed for the Rebellion Festival and have announced a UK tour in November 2012!
Their Debut single "Rich Kids" stuck two fingers up at all things pretentious! They took a little swing at the government! While their follow up "Skeleton Army" gave out an important message about the dangerous size zero culture. The "Skeleton Army" single was previously featured as a single press release in Punk Globe in late 2011.
Their brand new third single "Paper Cuts" has already drawn comparisons to X-Ray Spex, The Stranglers and The Slits. Paper Cuts is a full on Punk/Rock/Grunge genre defying a monster of a track! It was Recorded at White House Studios with Matt Bew and it was released on March 26th 2012.
Screama Ballerina's Lead Singer front woman Charlie O'Connor said 'Paper Cuts' is a song about that paper stuff that we all love to hate - money!! I find it crazy that we are all obsessed with numbers on a screen, what the bankers are doing and with bits of paper with the Queens head printed on them. We live, eat and breathe it. It causes wars and it breeds greed and contempt, yet we make it the number one thing in our lives. In an ideal world we could just build a huge bonfire with every single note. Imagine all that money burning...? Yes, I know we need it to survive, but wouldn't it be easier if all we needed was warmth, food, water and love..?''
