MILLIE THE FLOWER LADY

This month's PUNK OF THE MONTH award goes to one of San Francisco's most beloved people- MILLIE THE FLOWER LADY... MILLIE who is the original Powder Puff Girl. When I first met MILLIE in the late 70's she was in her late 60's and she needed to subsidize meager income by selling photo's and flowers... Every night she would strap on her merchandise showcase which would include Candy Bars, Gum, Certs, Life Savers, Cigarettes, Flowers along with her trusty Polaroid Camera and at 7PM would begin her trek into the North Beach Night Clubs..Which would include Grant Street, Kearny Street and of course Broadway... Ending her night at Enrico's at 2AM. Knowing no fear MILLIE would often walk in the middle of a pit filled with Skin Heads just to sell a flower or take a photo for $5.. H.E.A.R. Founder KATHY PECK recently spotted MILLIE on Grant Street and we all were so happy to hear that she was still living!! So- MILLIE - PUNK GLOBE takes great pride in giving you this month's PUNK OF THE MONTH award.....
