Interview By: PunkrPrincess
Punk Globe:
Please list the name and respective instrument of each band member.
Peesh:
Peesh - Lead Vocals & Guitar, Paul - Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals, Carlos - Drums.
Punk Globe:
How long have you all known each other? How did you meet?
Peesh:
Paul and I have known each other since school so we go back a long way. We were working together on a project called CRACKDOWN at the time, so I knew what Paul could do. I knew Carlos from playing drums in a previous band The Blisters. So when LoGOz needed a new drummer in the early stages Carlos was the obvious choice.
Punk Globe:
When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
Peesh:
I formed the band in 2012. It was born out of frustration and I wanted to do something new and fresh with an immediate impact. I was listening to ...And Out Come the Wolves by Rancid at the time so that Album was a big influence on the start of LoGOz
Punk Globe:
How did you pick your band name?
Peesh:
The idea of the name 'logos' was suggested to me by a good friend a few years back. It has a kind of religious ancient Greek origin meaning 'word' 'expectation' and also 'everywhere'. I liked that concept and gave it a modern twist with a 'Z' on the end and a capital 'GO' in the middle. It just sounds positive and pro-active and doesn't categorize us as anything, which is important.
Punk Globe:
What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
Peesh:
There are elements of Punk/Pop/Rock/Alternative sounds in LoGOz. We are influenced by classic British punk bands like the Sex Pistols and Buzzcocks as well as American punk like The Ramones, Green Day and Rancid.
Punk Globe:
What are the biggest obstacles for bands?
Peesh:
Right now it's getting your music heard by a bigger audience. Yeah, the internet is a great thing and social media is at its peak but that also causes overkill in some cases. There are millions of good bands out there now. New music is so accessible these days. At the click of a button you can listen to any band from anywhere in the world. That is a great thing in a way but it also dampen the excitement and anticipation. It can help us get our music heard instantly but also drops us in a very large ocean of other bands all swimming towards the same goal.
Punk Globe:
What's your most embarrassing Band experience ?
Peesh:
In LoGOz we, fortunately, haven't had a bad embarrassing experience as yet. We cover our mishaps well :) Although in my previous band JUNKSTER I missed a ferry stop on Tour in Norway so ended up miles up the Norwegian coast almost missing a gig. Also in the same band, one of the guys nearly got arrested in London for indecent exposure on our way to a gig. That could have been really embarrassing! It was all innocent..officer :)
Punk Globe:
What are your dreams and goals?
Peesh:
My dream is for this band to continue to make great music and be remembered for that. I want to Tour around the World. Particular in America. We are influenced by a lot of American artists and think our unique brand of Punk/Pop/Rock would go down well don't you think?
Punk Globe:
Describe your show, visual and musically
Peesh:
Our Live show is high energy and in your face. After 2 years of constant gigging we are tight as a unit and that comes across when you see us performing. I hope :)
Punk Globe:
Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
Peesh:
Yes I always get a kind of healthy nervous energy before l play Live, no matter how big or small a gig. I think that's a good thing. I would never be complacent.
Punk Globe:
How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
Peesh:
Haha we hide them well. I think its always good not to let anyone know you have made a mistake. Its all about how you react. You have to remember its just usually a split second so 99% of people haven't even noticed. I think :)
Punk Globe:
How often and for how long do you practice?
Peesh:
We like to practice as much as we can depending on time in between gigs etc. We rehearse at a great local studio complex for 2-3 hours at a time.
Punk Globe:
What's new in the recording of your music?
Peesh:
We have a new 4 track EP coming out in the Autumn called HELLO LONELY. We are also working on our first official video for the title track.
Punk Globe:
Do you write your lyrics? Do you ever change a song’s lyrics in live sets?
Peesh:
No,never. I write all the lyrics. A lot of them draw from personal experience. I often like to write uplifting sounding tunes to dark lyrics. I was always told to write about what you know, so I often revert to that. Although I have been known to slightly exaggerate a story or 2. As the saying goes, never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Punk Globe:
Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Peesh:
My songwriting inspiration comes from all sorts of places. It can be from just sitting with my guitar, or something someone says, or something I read or something I hear. I never really switch off, its like I'm constantly inspired by the world around me, good and bad.So there is never a textbook process. Sometimes its lyrics first or song titles. Or other times it can be a riff or chord sequence that comes first. I often have songs half written that I will leave unfinished sometimes for months. I never ever have a blank canvas or wonder where my next idea is coming from.
Punk Globe:
What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Peesh:
Online music sharing is part of the modern music world now, so you have to embrace it to a certain extent. We have some of our tracks up streaming online for the world to listen to. But we still have our tracks and albums up for sale. We work hard at what we do, recording, artwork, distribution, promotion etc and judging by the response we get from CD sales at gigs etc, people out there still want to buy new music. So that can only be a good thing.
Punk Globe:
Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Peesh:
Any new band starting out I would advise to practice as much as you can to get tight. You will know when you're ready to start gigging. Ask a few friends and family to come and watch you rehearse, they will let you know. Then play Live as much as you can, contact local promoters, bands etc for support slots even just to get you started. Then get a good demo CD recorded and contact local radio stations for airplay. Social media is now a great place for bands starting out to get all these contacts. Just be careful who you trust and don't sign anything unless you have checked 100% To quote a great song... Ask lots of questions and don't eat the bullshit!
Punk Globe:
Some people have the image that it's non-stop partying out there,is this true?
Peesh:
Absolutely!!! Haha well, not quite! It depends on the gig and occasion. Although any party will always come after a LoGOz gig! We play hard first then party hard later!
Punk Globe:
What's your ultimate direction for your band?
Peesh:
The ultimate direction for the band is to keep working hard and writing great songs. We want to be as big as we possibly can. Its a great big world out there! We have a new EP HELLO LONELY coming out in the autumn so we will be promoting that before working on the next Album in 2015 which is already as good as written.
Punk Globe:
Do you have a band website? Do you have a Facebook or Twitter? Do you use Bandcamp, Spotify or SoundCloud to share your music?
Peesh:

Peesh:
