BILLY: Actually I had hooked back up with Tony through my space.
I've known tony since 86 & had been in a few bands with him back in the 90's, after our last band...
Burnin' Bridges broke up, we lost touch w/each other for years. Well, back in April of 2010, I was playin'
around on the computer one day I located Tony's My SDpace page, sent a message, "Hey Tony!" next thing you know,
We're jammin' again that week!
TONY: I had thought he moved out to Germany with his wife. It was great to hear they were still in L.A.
PUNK GLOBE: Did you also find Bernie an Josh on My Space?
BILLY: No, at first we had a friend of mine on guitar for about 3 months. After he left we needed a
guitar player, I thought of Josh but had lost touch with him for a few years... So, same story,
played in bands w/ Josh in the 90's, lost touch, located his My Space page
In 2010, sent a message, "Hey Josh!, how have you been? lets jam!"
JOSH BLAKE: Well. I was kind of away on holiday if you will and Billy had been searching for
me on the internet of all things and we talked about hooking up and playing again!
PUNK GLOBE: Tell the readers about when you played together prior to Notorious Junkie?
JOSH BLAKE: We had some musical times together with Texacala Jones, very fun times!
BILLY: It was an honor to play with Tex.
PUNK GLOBE: Bernie, how did you hook up with these guys?
BERNIE: I had been wanting to do music and sing again for years, but there just wasn't the right thing
out there for me at the time. So I met Billy thru Face Book.
BILLY: Yeah, one day I get a message from Bernie saying he heard we were looking for a singer!
BERNIE: So I went over to Billy's place, he showed me some songs, which I thought were just fucking
incredible! We really hit it off right away. We just clicked! we're from the same background, same
scene from back in the day...We just understood and liked each other right away!
BILLY: Yeah! who would have thought!!
TONY: I would have!
PUNK GLOBE: What's up with the bands name?
BILLY: Well, we are a bunch of notorious Mother Fuckers, as far as the Junkie....
Well, ya got all kinds of junkies, sports, fashion, shopping, our friend iris is a dessert junkie,
you got coffee junkies all kinds... We live in a world today that basically demands you be a junkie of
some sort! Work, health, etc...it's actually a very positive gesture on our part....Solidarity with
the people!
TONY: Italian Motorcycle Junkie!
BERNIE: Well, as far as we go, we all been there, and we're just another example that you can get your
shit together and rock n roll!!
PUNK GLOBE: Bernie, we all remember when you sang with the Little Kings back in the 80's, what have you been
up to?
BERNIE: Well I sang with the Daggers, then I sang with the Little Kings in the 80's...
Everything with the little kings happened so fast. We rose to success within months.. and then it
fell apart just as fast! Nick went back to Texas & Gore went to make movies.
PUNK GLOBE: Billy, what bands did you guys play with back in the day?
BILLY: I played w/ Texacala Jones in the Horseheads and Texorcist, played w/ Legal Weapon,
Blood On The Saddle, Burnin' Bridges.. Josh played w/ the Guttercats, Black Cherry, The Comatones,
Tony played w/ Throwrag, The Purple Gang, Burnin' Bridges.. Plus bands we forgot, don't want to remember or threatened with bodily harm if we ever
mention we played with!
PUNK GLOBE: Like the ........?
BILLY & JOSH: YES!!
BILLY: Hey,by the way.... That's Josh's band The Guttercats on that episode of 'Married With Children"
back in the 80's, you know the episode where Kelly Bundy wants to be in a video...Hilarious!
JOSH BLAKE: Bro!
JOSH BLAKE: Yeah, I was pretending to be Bruce Lee and broke my back, my arm, fractured my right fore
arm...it was rough.I almost didn't make it thru that, but I did.... I play with a very stiff right arm and hand, it's
something I'm adjusting to and the band is adjusting to my painful way of playing! ha! Anyway, it's an interesting band with
a kind of punk ala country and rock n roll thang, We have a good time!
BILLY: Josh is like the 6 Million Dollar Man.."WE CAN REBUILD HIM"HA HA!..seriously thou, I'm just glad
he's here with us, you don't fall 4 stories, land on your back and live....ya know.
PUNK GLOBE: Usually you do not survive, That's incredible! Josh, we hear you have a new dog?
JOSH: Yes, she's a Rat Terrier, the new love in my life, her name's Edie.
BERNIE: She's a bonafided 5th member of the band!
JOSH: Oh yeah, She goes everywhere with me.
BILLY: She goes everywhere with the band!
PUNK GLOBE: Band's best friend!...and Bernie, we hear that your quite the horseman now?
BERNIE: I always loved horses and this opportunity just came up where I can ride when ever I
can find the time. It really gives me peace and tranquility...
BILLY: We're all big time animal lovers, remember everyone, if we won't help em, who will?
PUNK GLOBE: So what's the band been up to recently?
BILLY: We recorded 3 songs at Dave Catchings place in Joshua Tree,it's a studio called Rancho De La Luna.
Ed Monsef engineered w/ Dave helping out.
BILLY: Fuckin' great! We posted the songs on the Net last month.
PUNK GLOBE: Where can people listen to the songs?
BERNIE: Go to Reverb Nation and enter Notorious Junkie. We also have a face book page and a My Space site.
PUNK GLOBE: What are your plans for 2011?
