Mick James
is Dead
Movie Soundtrack
CD Review By: The Gypsy Poet
Mick James is probably one of the most noted figures when it comes down to Do-it-yourselfers, and he is one guy who has totally gained my respect for that reason. He has written and produced with people all across the music board and still continues to do so. Two of his most noted credits are Criss Angel and Jonathan Davis from Korn. Mick James has substance in his sound because of his bravery with experimentation.
In this album that ties in with a film called MIck James is Dead, he takes the listener through a wild ride of different sounds and colors. The experimentation with dissonance is loud, bombastic and complex with lots of sound effects that actually blend well in with the rest of the instrumentation. With lots of weird, but fun sounds in the mix, the listener finds themselves in a place of enigma and darkness. It has a macabre feel with moments of getting out of the comfort zone.
The tracks that are reckless, haunting, melodious are 9-1-1 (Guess What, You’re Dead), Strap You Down, Burned Alive, Infernal, I Don’t Fight Fair and Speeding Like A Fiend.
All in all, the album is pretty impressive with lots of zing in the mix, it is bound to shake you up...
