"Words Begin Wars"

Although not exactly Punk Rock, Phoenix-based band Loren Battle certainly are a hard band. Formed in 2004, the band members -- comprising of Joey on Vocals, Ryan on Drums and Vocals, Guitarist Jason and Logan and Bassist Eric -- teamed up to play the music each member wanted to hear in a music scene which is currently full of cheesy pop or rehashes of old classics. This gives the band its own characteristics which help to create an intoxicating blend of modern rock with nice tuneful vocals and melodies with the more heavier scream-filled gutteral growling.

It's hard for a band these days to use growling vocals and blast beat drums without it being too much like Napalm Death, or without it getting too annoying very quickly. But Loren Battle manage this well, with the addition of some great lead guitar lines, and tunes that don't overbear.

The band won the Warped Tour Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands stage for Los Cruces, New Mexico, recently, and this shows in their debuet album, titled "WORDS BEGIN WARS," currently availible from their
MySpace page at www.myspace.com/LorenBattle and I would advise serious hardcore
NuMetal / NuRock fans to check them out.

Utelising a combination of aforementioned blast beats and gutteral vox, with some subtleties jumping in to make a change, a lyrical content reminding us all to stand firm in times of despair and defiance, and the opportunity to hear some great underpinning bass and guitars that are powerful as well as tuneful,
WORDS BEGIN WARS
could easily fit into the CD collection alongside IRON MAIDEN, PAPA ROACH, MACHINE HEAD, ATREYA, and although it won't be for the punkers who are into '77 punk, I think thrashers will get into it. as many punks took to Motorhead back in the Eighties.

All in all they are a fine band, and it's a great debut for the band. Strong and Powerful. I also had the pleasure of hearing a three-song demo of new material the band are currently working on for
a six-song EP, to use for interested record companies, and on the strength of what i have heard,
i think the band will have no problems achieving the goal of getting signed.
They are just what the NuMetal generation are looking for.
