Kill Matilda

Dusty Exner had plenty to say about being sexy, serial killers and this new E.P. when I had the good fortune to interview here recently. You can read what she had to say by going here - http://rockulusmaximus.com/Q-and-A---Dusty---Kill-Matilda.php
Regarding this extended player, it has six prime examples why you should take notice of their attitude and their feisty energy. ‘Pomegranate’ does a great job of opening up proceedings before ‘I Want Revenge’ piles on the fury. Both of these tracks hang around under three minutes each which fits the Punk ethos by ticking the right boxes. ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ changes the pace initially before some driving riffs inject some urgency.
Dusty hooks up with Marcus Luk (drums) and Mykel Exner (bass) as they pummel the senses with some stereotypically precise Punk Rock. There aren’t necessarily any surprises apart from the acoustic rendition of ‘Geisha With A Switchblade’ which apart from having an eye-catching song title, can also be found in its original format on Kill Matilda’s 2011 album ‘I Want Revenge’.
If you want to soak up the vibe on ‘Law Abiding Citizen’, then you won’t have to go far. Just witness the official video for the track here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV7kLcHcPEU
‘PBJ’ has an amazing riff and really thrusts its groin in your face with the power and expletives. In fact this is as brutal as they get on this six tracker, and may hint at what is to come as they publicly confirm their intentions to release another E.P. at some point. If you’re reading this, then you’re a fan of Punk, or at the very least curious. This E.P. is satisfying in its overall depiction of what you expect from Punk music, although it does offer up some detours from the expected.
This E.P. is old news if you already have the back catalogue belonging to Kill Matilda, which does create a grumble as it would have been cool to get some new material. If you’re new to these guys on the other hand, or perhaps just need a refreshing reminder of what they can produce, then ‘#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll’ will do just that. As lead vocalist Dusty says herself, the main influences thrown in to the mix are sex, drugs and money and social justice. That covers a lot of ground and adds sufficient spice to their canon of songs. Now that ill health is behind them and their focus has returned, roll on more new music when it’s ready to be unleashed!
