JAY SCARY
Lead Guitarist For TEARS OF THE DYING
Interview By: Lisa Lunney
Jay Scary of Tears of the Dying took time from his busy schedule to talk music, bandmates and future projects.
Punk Globe:
First off, huge thanks for chatting with Punk Globe.
JAY SCARY:
First off. Thank YOU for giving us this opportunity
Punk Globe:
Can you introduce readers to your sound and band mates? What role does each member play?
JAY SCARY:
I am Jay Scary. I am the lead guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocals of Tears of the Dying. I write all of the music for the band. I am the composer/conductor lol. Lucian is our second guitar player, Joe Dogg is our lead vocalist and writes the lyrics, Roqard Johnson plays Bass and T-Rex plays Drums.
Punk Globe:
How would you describe your sound?
JAY SCARY:
We are a mix of Old Punk, 80s metal, hardcore, and nu metal.
Punk Globe:
Where would you be without music?
JAY SCARY:
Music puts excitement in our lives and is what we love to do.
Punk Globe:
Who were some of your greatest musical influences?
JAY SCARY:
I guess growing up in the 80s made us really appreciate that era of music. Motley Crue, Skid Row, Metallica, etc really made us want to play music.
Punk Globe:
What defines a great song?
JAY SCARY:
I think overall, a great song takes a catchy riff, great melody, and meaningful lyrics.
Punk Globe:
Thus far, what are your favourite tracks you have been a part of?
JAY SCARY:
To Date U would say that Sets my world ablaze, Circles, Story of my life, and Numbing are by far my favorite tracks that we have recorded to date.
Punk Globe:
Where do you find inspiration for music?
JAY SCARY:
Life events, Daily happenings, and just the things that we all go thru growing up inspire our music.
Punk Globe:
What era of music was most important in your opinion?
JAY SCARY:
I would say the 80s really was one of the most influential times that have shaped today’s music.
Punk Globe:
What have been some of the greatest performance memories?
JAY SCARY:
We have opened for several national acts but I would have to say one of the best times was when we did the Slave to the metal tour hosted by fuses Mistress Juliya.
Punk Globe:
What are you currently working on?
JAY SCARY:
In the next year fans can expect a new album titled 661 to be released.
Punk Globe:
What are you most excited about in the coming years?
JAY SCARY:
In the coming years I am the most excited about doing tons of shows, recording more great music and growing our fan base even more.
Punk Globe:
In addition to Tears of Dying, you’re working on a side project? Can you tell readers about it?
JAY SCARY:
I have a side project in the works called Blood Fueled Empire. We are in the process of recording our debut album titled Saints of the Underground. Myself and Joe Dogg from Tears of the Dying have teamed up with Brendan Seditz of Wiseguy studios, and rap veterans Ill Will of the Ghost Smokers and Jag Da Apostle to revolutionize the whole rap metal movement. With influences such as POD, Incubus, 311, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Body Count, and Limp Bizkit mixed with the likes of Sevendust, Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, and Black Sabbath Blood Fueled Empire is gonna definitely bring the word original and unique to peoples minds.

The first two singles to the Saints of the Underground album should be available for listening on our reverbnation page player in the next couple weeks. Although I do not know the link right off hand, The Blood Fueled Empire page is listed on the Tears of the Dying reverbnation page as favorite artists. I will keep you updated

In closing, I would just like to say that we appreciate all of our fans and Punk Globe for giving us the opportunity to share a little bit about who we are and hopefully this experience will help us reach out to new fans.
