I have known Hunt for quite some time. Hunt is the son of iconic comedian Soupy Sales. His first band was with his brother Tony called Tony And The Tigers... He has played drums with Paris, Bob Weich, David Bowie, Todd Rundgren, Bootsy Collins, Iggy Pop, Tender Fury and more. I have asked Hunt for an interview before and he did not feel the time was right. Just recently I asked again and he agreed.. I hope you all enjoy..
Punk Globe: Thanks for the interview Hunt . How old were you when you first started playing drums?
Hunt: 6 years old.
Punk Globe: Who were your influences when you in your youth?
Hunt: The Trashmen and the Orlans.
Punk Globe: Did you spend your youth in Los Angeles or New York?
Hunt: Both.
Punk Globe: You have played with so many greats Bowie, Bootsy, Iggy Pop, Todd Rundgren. Did you have a favorite and why?
Hunt: I did a session work alongside Shelly Mann.
Punk Globe: You were living in Austin but I have heard that you recently moved to Memphis on the recommendation of Will Sexton am I right?
Hunt: No I didn't. I did not move to Memphis though I've spent time there. Will I've known a long long time, and he has invited me to come visit him in Memphis and so some shows solo and together with him.
Punk Globe: I understand that it was Will Sexton who hooked you up with Big Legal Mess/Fat Possum Records am I right
Hunt: Yes. He made the introduction.
Punk Globe: Your new project is called The Hunt Sales Memorial tell us about it?
Hunt: That's the name of the project that I have right now ie band
Punk Globe: How long did it take to release ' Get Your Shit together'
Hunt: It didn't take any time to record it. We did it in 4 days, then I mixed it and Jan. 25, 2019 it was released. 7 to 8 months later.
Punk Globe: How many tracks are on the album?
Hunt: 12.
Punk Globe: Is it mainly blues oriented?
Hunt: No but that is an element amongst many of the style of music I play.
Punk Globe: Who is playing on ''Get Your Shit Together'?
Hunt: Tjarko Jean on guitar, he's been playing in The Memorial for quite a few years, and a few other people that no one would know.
Punk Globe: Have you released any videos in conjunction with the release?
Hunt: Yes. And they can be seen on YouTube or thehuntsalesmemorial.com
Punk Globe: Have you toured?
Hunt: A handful of dates have been done. The closest so far to a tour situation has been the 3 shows that I opened for Jack White and the Raconteurs.
Punk Globe: What is your take on the state that the USA is in?
Hunt: The USA is a country, not a state.
