The show was fantastic, industrial punk beats and loud guitars.
Death Valley Scars were the first band to hit the stage tonight. I have to say that the poor dis jointed musicianship is not what I had expected. The sound that the band are trying to emulate was a cross over of NIN and Marilyn Manson, unfortunately this was not executed well at all and the vocals were very weak. After only two songs I proceeded back to the bar for a drink and chat to some friends.
Dutch industrial band Deadcell were ready to crank the levels of guitar up and get the already building crowd ready for action.
Having heard good things about this band, I was glad that the music definitely did the talking. Great crowd interaction and music that was loud, it reminded me so much of Ministry.
I would definitely go to see Deadcell again, real industrial metal at its best.
The moment that everybody has been waiting for finally arrives. Hanzel Und Gretyl start to gear up ready to play. It has been quite a few years since I have seen the band play in this very venue.
The presence of Kaizer Von Loopy and Vas Kallas is definitely being felt, the guitars are screaming and the mix of German lyrics a sure fire hit. The crowd seems to increase very quickly, and the punks etc at the front go wild.
With such fast and furious songs such as "fikk dick mit fire" and "disko fire scheiss messiah" it's no wonder the atmosphere is electric. My favorite track "ss deathstar supergalactik" which gets an airing this evening, prompting Kaizer to hold the microphone to the crowd for a sing along.
The stage is becoming covered in beer as the antics that make tonight entertaining continue.
When "das boot" commences, Kaizer armed with his beer can holster decides to get some crowd interaction. Three of the crowd are encouraged to get
onto the stage and have beer poured into their boots.
The next stage of the party involves these chosen warriors of the boots to drink beer from them, masses of entertainment and the stage is soaking wet.
There were so many great elements to tonight's show.
Everything from an impromptu waltz
type dance in between songs, to the beer boot competition. There was defiantly not a single thing that I could fault with Hanzel Und Gretyl.
A great night was definitely had, and I hope that they come back to the U.K very soon.
