Fish Karma which is active since the early 90’s has released “The Theory Of Intelligent Design” through the Alternative Tentacles label.Fish Karma is the name of a one-person artist who succesfully combines folk-rock with punk rock angst. This artist, whose real name is Terry Owen, released several independent albums after his days in University of Arizona and worked with artists such as Mojo Nixon and Jello Biafra. Fish Karma was on hold between 1995 and 1998, but made a good comeback with the album “The Dangerous Playground” in 1998, on which he collaborated with Andy Young. 2001's Lunch with the Devil followed it and put one of his best efforts with 2006's Theory of Intelligent Design on Alternative Tenacles.
Fish Karma this time plugs in for The Theory of Intelligent Design. The previous albums were acoustic generally. Garage rock, humor, folk rock and also punk rock is beatifully combined here. Of course there are some acoustic songs like "Blessed Time and "Moving to New Jersey" which is where Fish Karma is very good at and really powerful but the album gives also the possibility to hear some political songs including subjects like religion and violence in its lyrics. One minute & the opener "Fifty Caliber Christ" and I Begged God to Kill Me" are album’s two shining stars. There's a final hidden song in the album that is not listed on the cover and be sure that you do not want to miss it. Some might say that Fish Karma’s music is weird at times but weird is good. It’s amusing and if you can feel it through the music and the lyrics,no need to ask for more. There was not a superb and true choice than Biafra's Alternative Tentacles for this release and Fish Karma did it.
Lean back, close your eyes and enjoy all the 15 tracks…It will be a quality time spending than a waste of time;)
