PUNK GLOBE:
Tell us about the Stax Records Mueseum art show that you recently were recently a part of in Memphis,Tennessee?
Fernando Carpaneda:
The Art Show in Tennessee was awesome! The Stax Museum is amazing place to be! All the art works in the show were created in response to socially conscious music from the Stax catalog. I made a portrait of singer Mable John, and my work is an interpretation of John's song "Don't Hit Me No More" and is a portrait of the singer looking away from the viewer in a state of deep reflection. I aimed to capture the face of a genius and powerful woman who was never afraid of singing about real issues and expressing her feelings. There is strength in this woman's face as she fights back against domestic violence, while a subtle tear runs down her face representing both her pain and resolve. The exhibition will be on display till December 31st, 2015.

PUNK GLOBE:
Did you feel challenged by that show? It just did not seem like others shows that you have done..
Fernando Carpaneda:
Not really cause my work has always been for diversity, punk culture and socials issues and I think the Stax records artists and history is an extension of what I try to show in my works since the 80's till now.

PUNK GLOBE:
I would like to thank you for your contributions to the Best Of Punk Globe book. Have you gotten any feedback about your work in the book?
Fernando Carpaneda:
Thank you for being so amazing! And thank you for being the wonderful woman that you are. And yes I'm getting lots of feedback about my work in the book and about the book in general. People said its amazing to see the interviews with so many great artists in one book. The interviews give the readers a complete vision of punk culture and 80's till now. I think it is a very important book.

PUNK GLOBE:
When actress Pauley Perrette seen her image that you painted she actually thought it was the photo she had given us a few years earlier. She seemed a bit shocked to hear it was a painting. Any thoughts on that Fernando?
Fernando Carpaneda:
I'm glad she like my painting and I'm happy with that work I made of her, cause that painting is one of my personal favorite paintings. I'm trying to be more realistic on my paintings and sculptures. I think to work with realistic portraits is always a challenger. Is very difficult sometimes to do and if the work don't came along good can turn into a big disaster, but I like to do difficult things and I'm happy with most of portraits I have done.

PUNK GLOBE:
I also was happy to have included your painting of Warhol star Joe Dallesandro and the painting you did of myself in the Best Of Punk Globe Book.. I had a Photo Editor who picked the images I had collected.. So, I had no control of what actually made it in the book... So congratulations Fernando.
Fernando Carpaneda:
Awesome! I feel honored Thank You!

PUNK GLOBE:
You seem to making quite a name for yourself in Brazil. What are your thoughts on that?
Fernando Carpaneda:
Well....I'm not sure if I like that or not because, I'm a very simple person. I don't like too much to see myself as a famous artist and I don't like to be treated special just because I'm an artist. I prefer still drinking "Pabst Blue Ribbon" than drink "Champagne". Money and fame doesn't mean anything to me.

Tell us about your new magazine that you have started?
Fernando Carpaneda:
I create "Carpazine" in order to publicize my friends works, because I'm always involved in several projects with several artists around the world and I think would be nice to have a magazine showing what my friends are working on and our new projects. Also the magazine is open for young artists and musicians to submit works for consideration to be featured in future issues.
