Fans of Romeo Void will no doubt be delighted to learn that
former front-woman, Debora Iyall has a new four song EP to
her credit. Singing Until Sunrise, released on Iyall's own
Dottie Records begins with an upbeat revision of Romeo Void's
1984 single, "A Girl in Trouble (is a temporary thing)."
This updated version is a stunning improvement to a classic.
The tightened up rhythm and extra verse seem to make the
storyline more convincing... one feels a greater confidence
in the temporal quality of our protagonist's troubles. The
electro-pop, "Letting Go" is a collaboration with former
Romeo Void bassist, Frank Zincavage which showcases Iyall's
versatility as both a vocalist and an arbiter of ambiance as
it almost sounds as though it were being performed under
water. The last two tracks, "Wait Out the Storm" and "99"
are live versions off 2011's Stay Strong. Singing Until
Sunrise explores electronica, pop, darkwave, and hints of ska
with grace and confidence. The EP is available in both CD
format and a limited run of purple vinyl
