Captain Jack's Army
Royal Arms EP
EP Review By: The Gypsy Poet
A refreshing kick to old music, and sea shanties, I absolutely had a blast with this band! Captain Jack's Army is a Swedish Band with lots of percussive, loud and hilarious music that I have enjoyed plugging my ears to. These guys have this incredible array of songs and they are rich in sound, direction and an awesome blend of acoustic and electric mix of sounds that add to their skill, their humor in their lyrics and so much more. Their Royal Arm's EP is a smashing one with their mix of Celtic and Punk Rock and the have all the right influences to give their music the trademark kick it's got! Dropkick Murphys, The Ramones, Flogging Molly, Social Distortion are all just perfect for this mix of music, humor and mayhem
That also includes my friend, "The mojo with the most Joe!" and they got it in a very big way!
The Members are: Pär Palm - Lead Scream Jonas - Mandolin, Banjo & Scream Ariel - Guitars & Scream Andy - Bass & Scream Jack - Drums Alexandra- Fiddle & Scream Oscardion - Accordion Martin - Guitars & Scream
"Devil's Eye" is thrashing and fun. with vocals that sound choral like and very well harmonized. Nothing like it, and the balance of guitars wailing adds to the mix of this wily, celtic sound.
"Stranger" is a beautifully written and melodious ballad that adds an electrifying contrast to the EP, it's got female and male vocal track that haunts the mind and lingers in the eardrum, with acoustic instrumentation of acoustic guitars and fiddles with beautifully blended vocals. What makes this track merciless is how it grabs the heart, from the moment it starts and continues to linger even after it finishes.
"Queen of Chaos" is an electrifying track of acoustic and electric blends and has a more rhythmic kick to Captain Jack's trademark sound. Very different and unconventional, with a coherent sound of metal-like rhythm and celtic sound that completely is un-run-of-the-mill. Brilliant mix of musics that I never thought possible. Good stuff!
Royal Arms. One thing to say. GET UP AND DANCE! And don't misplace your tambourine! Worth banging along!
"Workers Song" Great anthem! Period!
The mix, altogether, these guys have a choir-like harmony, fused with an electric and electrifying adventure in every song they write and perform. The fusion of Punk Rock and Celtic is a very distinct mix of fun, rock n' roll and an ancient heritage that blend so well together and share with the listener a good time with lots of ale along the way. Perfect for a party along the shores! ENJOY!
