Poison Idea
Get Loaded And Fuck
American Leather Records/TKO Records
Vinyl Review By: Jaime Pina

Poison Idea were a wonder to behold as far as watching and listening to them grow as a band. As they gained momentum on the scene from their intense live shows and crushing songs, they also began to do what all the best bands do. They got better and better. By consolidating their considerable talents and then turning them into a focused attack, they created a powerful signature sound that appealed to punks and people who had good taste in metal.

This new 12” record collects two of the band’s pivotal releases from 1988, the Filthkick and Getting The Fear extended plays. This was around the time that Steve “Thee Slayer Hippie” Hanford joined the band and with his tight but powerful drumming he helped the band achieve some of the focus they needed. All the best bands play to the drummer and with Steve on the drum throne the others could go completely off without a worry about the foundation they were working upon. The entire band sounds incredible here. Pig Champion’s riffing is jarring and mathematically perfect at the same time. The solos blend metal and punk creating the best of both worlds. And Jerry’s vocals, always loud and strong, are razor sharp here.

If you had your original vinyl lost or stolen or just never lucked into finding them then this is an essential release. Remastered and Made In Portland.
